1972 Injury Report

MIAMI, FL – OCTOBER 15, 1972: Quarterback Bob Griese, of the Miami Dolphins is taken from the field on a stretcher after getting injured during a game against the San Diego Chargers on October 15, 1972 at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida.


Oakland Raiders starting right tackle Bob Brown will be out for next weeks game against the Green Bay Packers with a shoulder injury. The injury appears to be minor as he will miss just one week according to the Oakland training staff.

Chicago Bears will loose the services of running back Cyril Pinder for one week with a lower leg injury. The injury accrued early in the 4th period of play, though loss for the Bears as they will be hosting the Los Angeles Rams next and need all the weapons’ they can muster.

Baltimore’s backup left guard was injured on a kickoff midway through the 4th period and will miss the next 3 weeks with a severe shin fracture.

Lee Roy Jordan went out of the ball game on the very first play with a back strain after making a big hit on Eagles running back Po James. He will miss just one week according to the Dallas injury report.

Philadelphia will lose Ron Porter for a week as well as he suffered a foot injury in the ball game.

32 year old Nick Buoniconti apparently has suffered a broken finger which will require surgery, he will miss the next 4 weeks.

Denver’s backup right guard James Schnitker will miss the next 2 weeks as he was injured on a kickoff, lower back injury.

Houston will lose their starting right linebacker Phil Croyle for 3 weeks after he got his ankle twisted during a tackle.
