Quarter one came to a close with both teams putting up three points on the score board. Fran Tarkenton started to throw the football as the Viking running game has been shut down for the most part. Tarkenton tossed an 8 yard touchdown pass to Bill Brown to even the score with 3:13 to go in half number one. Score remains 10 to 10 as we head into halftime. Dallas will be kicking off to start the third period.
Minnesota struck quick to start the 3rd quarter with a long pass from Tarkenton to tight end Preston Carpenter from 46 yard out, Vikings 17 Cowboys 10. Flag on the field, Vikings are called for unnecessary roughness 15 yards and a first down at the Minnesota 14. Dallas just 3 seconds left to try and tie this one up. Meredith’s pass slips through the hands of Dan Reeves and Minnesota holds on to get the road win. Vikings improve to 3-0 and Dallas falls to 1-1 here in week three.
