Quarter one came to a close with both teams putting up three points on the score board. Dallas has controlled the game clock using up 10:20 of quarter one but could only manage a 29 yard field goal by their kicker Danny Villanueva, he missed one from 40 yards earlier. Minnesota has gain only 11 yards to Cowboys 131. The second quarter starts with the Cowboys first and 10 on the Vikings 24.

Dan Reeves punches the ball into the endzone from one yard out for the games first TD. Dallas is up on the Vikings 10 to 3 with 11:50 to go. Fran Tarkenton started to throw the football as the Viking running game has been shut down for the most part. Tarkenton tossed an 8 yard touchdown pass to Bill Brown to even the score with 3:13 to go in half number one. Score remains 10 to 10 as we head into halftime. Dallas will be kicking off to start the third period.

Minnesota struck quick to start the 3rd quarter with a long pass from Tarkenton to tight end Preston Carpenter from 46 yard out, Vikings 17 Cowboys 10. The third quarter comes to an end with score still 17 to 10. Bob Lilly has two big sacks in the game and now a fumble recovery at the Vikings 28; this is where the Cowboys will start the 4th period.

With the visiting Minnesota Vikings up on the Cowboys 17 to 10 with only 14 seconds left, Don Meredith’s pass fell to the ground incomplete leaving just three seconds to go. Flag on the field, Vikings are called for unnecessary roughness 15 yards and a first down at the Minnesota 14. Dallas just 3 seconds left to try and tie this one up. Meredith’s pass slips through the hands of Dan Reeves and Minnesota holds on to get the road win. Vikings improve to 3-0 and Dallas falls to 1-1 here in week three.
